After Rhinoplasty Surgery

Post-nasal surgery check-ups should not be neglected and the healing process should be closely monitored by surgeons. If painkillers are required, surgeons' recommendations should be followed and post-operative directives should be followed.

Post-Operative Process of Rhinoplasty

The recovery process after rhinoplasty can vary from person to person. Factors such as the changes made to the nose, the surgical technique used, the individual’s skin type, adherence to post-operative care instructions, and the surgeon's skill can influence the recovery period.

Rhinoplasty is typically performed under general or local anesthesia; patients are usually discharged on the same day after the surgeon's examination. We prefer performing the surgery under general anesthesia and having the patient stay in the hospital for one night for safety reasons.

We do not use traditional nasal packing, which is often feared. Instead, we use special silicone nasal stents for 2-3 days post-operatively. These silicone tubes do not adhere to the nasal mucosa, are easily removable, and have channels to allow breathing.

Pain is generally minimal and usually resolves within 1-2 days. Bruising and swelling are typically mild, but some patients may experience more bruising due to their tissue characteristics. Pain, bruising, or swelling generally does not severely affect quality of life. Any bruising and swelling on the face usually resolves within a week after the surgery.

Patients  typically show a noticeably improved appearance by the end of the first month. However, full results of the surgery can take up to a year to manifest. The healing process may be slightly slower in individuals with thick and oily skin.

Post-Operative Care Instructions:

Adhere to post-operative check-ups and ensure that the recovery process is monitored closely by the surgeons. Follow pain relief recommendations and adhere strictly to all post-operative instructions.

How is the Recovery Process After Rhinoplasty?

The recovery process after rhinoplasty varies depending on the patient’s age, skin type, the extent of changes made during the surgery, and the surgical technique used. Patients can usually get up and move around within half an hour after the surgery. They can return to desk jobs or school within 3-4 days and can return to their city or country within 7 days. Significant improvement is often noticeable within a month, making it possible to take important photos like graduation or engagement pictures. Full recovery typically takes 6 to 12 months, with the nose reaching its final shape approximately one year after the surgery.
